PARTY!

Ok ladies here are the details...

Saturday, March 1st at 11:30 am
at Johnny Carino's
on Eagle and Fairview
to crown our winner!

GO ERICA!
I hope this works for everyone. If it doesn't work for you let me know.

End of Challenge

Ok, since everyone dropped out at 4 weeks, I found it hard to stay motivated. I'm not sure I like the poker style challenge. I ended up at 148 lbs. (5.13%). I have decided to continue on. I still want to lose 8 to 10 more lbs. before I don my new bikini (ha ha ha!). Well, maybe not bikini, maybe tankini. Thanks for playing everyone, and lunch on Saturday, March 1 is just fine with me.

Erica?

Support

Hmm, You guys drop out and I slack off. That doesn't work so well. Now I have to dig down deep to beat Erica. I MUST BEAT ERICA! I need the spa time! Well, sorry to see you all go, but I've got a daughter to beat! Oh, and I vote for Johnny Carino's! Now I call that a celebration!

See you at the pool!

GO ERICA AND KATHLEEN!

Wow! You two have totally rocked! I'm glad to see that you are staying in! That puts the pot at $200. I trust that one of you will pay the other her $30 at the end.
I wish Kay was staying in! I think you had a great chance at winning, Kay! But doesn't it feel sooo fantastic to see be in the 120's?! Love that!
For the rest of us...again, definitely. I promise to get in the zone a little better on the next go round! Buffy? Mom? Yes?
Now for the best part....party time!!
What do you say to Saturday, March 1st? Noon? Where? Last time we went to White Water Pizza & Pasta. It was good but I wouldn't mind trying something else.
Let me know!
Good luck Kathleen and Erica!

Weigh In Wednesday

Hello ladies....

I am down 3 pounds this week to 183.

Woohoo!

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

you gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em

Tomorrow is the big "Are you in or out?" day!
Some things to remember...

*If you stay in, you have two more weeks to win!

* $140 in the pot right now!

*Remember the percentage of weight loss rule! If you're a dufus at math like me then here is a calculator just for that! Use the second one down and put in your loss first then your original weight.

*If only one person decides to stay in then we will "call it" then and plan our party to crown that winner!

*GOOD LUCK!

So, as for me. I'm so totally out! I weigh 140 pounds. Yep. What's that? A 1.5% gain?

I'm going out of town for V-day weekend and I am totally livin' it up!! I think I'll weigh 142 by the time I get back. How's that for a goal?

Erica 194
Buffy 162
Kay 134
Michelle 150

I don't think I missed anyone.

Fit Over 40

I found this little tidbit in my "Fit Over 40" newsletter this morning:
----------------------------------------------
Today's Topic:
How My Friend Susan Doubled Her Fat-loss
----------------------------------------------

Isn't weight-loss a bear?

Look, I understand. I went through it all myself.
I still have to watch it, too. I'm not perfect.

If anyone ever tells you...

"Hey, that Jon Benson guy is in PERFECT
shape!", you can laugh at them for me!

I'm not in perfect shape most of the year.

But I'm in 'good' shape...and sometimes I
strive for "excellent" shape.

Doesn't that sound more reasonable than
trying to be super-lean all the time?

GOOD!

Here is a tip from my friend Susan.

Susan was so frustrated with her weight-loss
slowing down as she turned 40 that she
literally cried herself to sleep many nights.

She tried everything:

-- lowering her calories to an unsafe level;
-- exercising more...sometimes hours a day;
-- even unsafe 'fat-burners' and 'diet-pills'!

Nothing worked.

Until she discovered the power of the apple.

"Jon, I've used your 'Fit Over 40' book as my
personal fitness BIBLE for three years. I love
it!"

*** You can get it yourself and freee audios at
*** http://www.fitover40.com

"But I could not lose that last 15-lbs of bodyfat.
I was so frustrated...so close, but so far!"

"Then I discovered your tip about apples. And
guess what? It worked! I have finally hit my
ideal bodyweight and I feel and look fantastic!"

>>> I bet you want my apple tip!

No problem...I am here to give you freee stuff.
I know you will pick up my books when you can.
I believe life is fair and I try (sometimes I
fall short) to give more than I receive.

The plan is simple:

On Monday, eat an apple before lunch and dinner.
Wait 15 minutes after the apple, then eat.

You should eat a normal, healthy lunch and dinner.
You can learn more about healthy meals in my book.
It is too much to cover in an email (my book is
304 value-packed, weight-loss-made-easier pages.)

On Tuesday, eat an apple before lunch and TWO
apples before dinner. Remember to wait 15 minutes
prior to eating.

Repeat this on Wednesday.

Then take a few days off the apples.

Then continue and keep going until you shed the
bodyfat you want to shed!

I love this plan. It's so simple, yet so effective.
And it's healthy, too.

Give it a shot.

I may just give it a shot.

Good Morning Ladies..

I managed to drop 1 lb this week. Now down to 148. If not for that blasted Super Bowl, I would still be in my 2 lb a week mode. Gotta pay to play I guess! Not to worry, I'm still hard at it!

See you at the pool!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

We are soooo silly! The girls and I decided we would have a "healthy" Super Bowl party. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! I did my best. I made Lemon Garlic Chicken in the oven, with Sweet Potato Chips, also in the oven (they didn't turn out) and planned on steamed broccoli and cauliflower. I even made extra extra lean chili. I tried, honestly. But, I was sabotaged with 5 Bean Dip, Guacamole, Chili Con Queso, Pot Stickers, Crab Dip, Artichoke Dip and Brownies for heaven's sake! There was nothing to do but go ahead and break out the wine! No problems. No worries. I had lost another pound before the melee, so you can rest assured I will be doing double duty on the tread this week to make sure I keep moving on down.

See you at the pool!

Sheesh!

Last time we did this little game, I was totally "in the zone". Exercising, eating better, drinking water, all the good stuff.
This go 'round...not so much.
Picture this:
Jimmy and I stop for lunch at Pie Hole (bad idea #1).
I order a slice of pepperoni pizza.
On the way out the door I grab a big stack of napkins. "What for?" you might say.
So that I can MOP UP the grease on my pizza! And this is what I actually said to Jimmy,
"Did you know that doing this saves you like 10 grams of fat?!"
EW, ICK and YUM all at the same time!
At that point I realized that I was soooo not winning this at the rate I was going. Not only not winning but failing miserably!
So what did I do? Jump back on the horse? No. Exercise extra hard? Nope. Make a plan to do better. Should have. Lay in bed and eat a graham cracker/chocolate frosting sandwich? Yep.

Today I packed up my lean cuisine, my apple and my 1 point chocolate pudding (a girls gotta have chocolate) and headed to work. Right before lunch my mom called me, "Olivia fell in the yard and I think she needs stitches. I'm coming to pick you up."
After a lot of crying and two staples in the head...we ate cheeseburgers and chocolate milkshakes for lunch!!

Tomorrow is another day! Right?

By the way...I weigh 138.
